Please keep in mind that while Nine Lives strives to help all of the kitties, we are unable to accept certain cats and may not be able to accept yours, whether that be due to behavior, medical reasons or other reasons not involving your cat specifically, such as being at MAX capacity for individual intakes. Our intake team works very hard to accommodate as many cats as possible. We review requests in the order they are received and will reach out as we are able. Some Intakes may be subject to an Intake Fee (Fee will be discussed & determined prior to the Intake Appointment, if fee is required) We Thank You for considering and trusting Nine Lives with your kitty, we would love to provide a safe home while finding their new furrrever homes!

Intakes are by APPOINTMENT ONLY

Nine Lives Unfortunately Cannot Accept:

• Cats that are deemed unsuitable for our “free roam” lounge environment (subject to Nine Lives evaluation). This generally means the cat does not get along with other cats, people, and/or would be caused undo stress as a result of living in our lounge environment however, there are other situations that may be a factor.

• Cats that have a medical condition or illness that may require specialized care and monitoring, including but not limited to; Calici Virus, FIP, Feline Distemper, Upper Respiratory, diabetes, coccidia etc. Nine Lives may intake special-needs cats if they are deemed suitable for our lounge environment and we determine that the lounge environment would not jeopardize the cat’s safety/well-being.

• Cats that require a special diet.

• Cats that are considered overweight. This is due to health concerns along with our cats require being kenneled at night per Department of Agriculture.

• Cats that have severe kennel stress and/or severe stress being in a carrier.

• Cats that are aggressive in any way, to other cats or people, including young kids, as they will be '“free roam” in our lounge area.

• Cats/Kittens that have not been Spayed/Neutered.

• Cats that have not had any vaccinations.

• Cats that have tested positive for FIV/FeLV. Unfortunately, we do not have a separate adoption lounge to keep them separated from our other kitties.

Requirements For Intake Appointment:

• You certify that you are the rightful owner/keeper of the cat/kitten(s) OR you have reason to believe that the cat/kitten(s) do not have a rightful owner/keeper/caretaker.

• You transfer all rights to the cat/kitten(s) and certify that no other person has a right of property to the cat/kitten(s). An Owner Transfer Contract MUST be sign at intake.

• You Certify that the cat/kitten(s) have not broken skin by biting or scratching a human or another animal out of fear or aggression.

• Owner MUST be at least 18 with a Valid ID.

• All Veterinary records will be provided for each cat. All required vaccinations, preventions and tests MUST be documented on these.

• Out of State Individuals (Non-Missouri ID) Cats will be required to be accompanied with a Health Certificate from a licensed veterinarian, MUST BE WITHIN 10 DAYS OF INTAKE.

• Intake Form complete, along with other documents that may be requested by Nine Lives.

• You Certify that to your knowledge the cat isn’t unpredictable/unsafe around other cats, humans and answer the questionnaire to the best of your ability.

Required Vaccinations, Preventions & Tests Prior To Completing Intake:

• Rabies Vaccination: Age-Appropriate (4+ Months)

• FVRCP Vaccine: Age-Appropriate Doses (Consult Veterinarian)

• Flea/Tick Prevention: (Revolution Preferred but Not Required)

• Spay/Neutered

• Microchipped

• FeLV/FIV Tested: MUST be Negative Result

• Dewormed
